Privacy Policy

SkyDisc is a disc golf score-tracking application operated by a sole proprietor registered in Finland (Business ID 3368988-7) (the “Service Provider”, “we”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data We Collect and Store

We store the following on our servers:

• Username
• Email address
• Password (encrypted / hashed — we never store your password in plain text)
• Profile photo (if you upload one; visible to other users in the app)
• Player data: scores, statistics, ratings, game history, and courses and layouts you create
• Feed reactions: reactions you or your friends give to feed posts (no text comments)
• Premium membership: if you are a premium user, we store the purchase date and premium status
• Friends and invites: your friends list and game invitations
• Push notification token (device token for sending notifications)

We do not store on our servers:

• App settings (theme, input mode, notification preferences, etc.) — these are kept only on your phone’s memory
• GPS location — not stored. When you use the map or distance features, location is read only while the app is active and is requested again each time you open the app

Other data:

• Sponsored content: in the free version we may show sponsored feed cards and sponsored missions from cooperation partners we select. This may include sponsor name, campaign images and text, and optional discount codes. We store mission progress and claim status on our servers so campaigns work correctly.
• If you tap a sponsor link, your device browser may open the partner’s website, which has its own privacy policy.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your account and let you log in.
• To record and display your scores, statistics and ratings.
• To show course maps and measure distances.
• To send notifications you have enabled.
• To show sponsored content and in-app promotional messages in the free version, and to offer an ad-free or reduced-ad premium experience.
• To contact you about important service or account information, and — if you have consented — marketing about new features and offers.

4. Legal Basis

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the app), based on your consent (e.g. marketing, optional photo upload, location, notifications), and based on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service.

5. Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Server hosting (where your account and game data are stored).
• Cooperation partners (only when you choose to visit their websites via sponsor links; their own policies apply).
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications).
• Map tile providers (course maps).
• Apple App Store and Google Play (app distribution and payments for premium features).

If SkyDisc is sold or transferred, your data may be transferred to the new owner, who must continue to honour this Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the service and verify gameplay. Sponsor links may use the partner site’s own cookies when you visit them.

7. Data Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures. Passwords are stored encrypted (hashed) and data is kept on secured servers. We use Google Firebase for secure data handling (encryption) and push notifications. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data — including uploaded images — is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers (hard delete), except where we must keep it to comply with the law.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete and export your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account in the app. To exercise other rights, contact support@skydisc.fi. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).

10. Children

SkyDisc is not directed at children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child without appropriate consent, we will delete it.

11. Sponsored Content and Partner Selection

We carefully select cooperation partners whose advertising and sponsored missions are appropriate for users of all ages and suitable for SkyDisc users (for example disc golf shops, courses, clubs and events). We do not accept sponsorship that promotes gambling, violence, adult content, alcohol or similar inappropriate material.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version applies when you use the Service. We will notify you of material changes in the app or by email. Your continued use of SkyDisc after the updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the changes, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of SkyDisc and takes effect when you install the app or register an account.

Terms and Conditions

These Terms govern your use of the SkyDisc disc golf application and website (the “Service”), operated by a sole proprietor registered in Finland (Business ID 3368988-7). By registering or using SkyDisc you agree to these Terms.

1. Account

You must provide a valid email address and choose a username and password. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity on your account. You must be old enough to consent under the laws of your country.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• upload or share content that is illegal, offensive, hateful, or infringes others’ rights;
• upload profile photos or other content you do not have the right to use;
• cheat, falsify scores, or abuse other players;
• attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Intellectual Property

The SkyDisc name, logo and brand, the app’s user interface, visual design, structure and technical architecture, rating and statistics calculations, and courses and layouts provided by the Service (not user-created) are owned by the Service Provider. You may not copy, imitate, reverse engineer or exploit them without prior written permission.

4. User Content

You keep ownership of photos and content you upload. Uploaded images are stored on our servers and shown to other users in the app, and you grant us a licence to store and display them so the feature works. You are solely responsible for what you upload. We may manually review and remove any content, and uploading inappropriate, offensive or illegal images may lead to removal of the content and deletion of your account. Friends can react to your posts, but cannot comment or post text.

5. Premium and Payments

SkyDisc is free to use with advertising. Optional premium features (such as ad-free use) may be offered for purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payments are handled by those stores under their terms. Subscriptions and refunds are managed through your store account.

6. Advertising and Sponsorship

The free version of SkyDisc may show advertising and sponsored content, including sponsored feed cards, sponsored missions (which may offer partner discount codes), and promotional messages about optional Premium features.

We carefully select cooperation partners whose advertising is appropriate for users of all ages and suitable for SkyDisc users (for example disc golf shops, courses, clubs and events). We do not accept sponsorship that promotes gambling, violence, adult content, alcohol or similar inappropriate material.

If you follow a sponsor link, you may leave the app and visit the partner’s website, which is governed by that partner’s terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party websites.

Premium subscribers may receive an ad-free or reduced-ad experience as described in the app.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it is uninterrupted or error-free. Features may change or be discontinued.

8. Disclaimer and Liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages, loss of data, or inaccuracies in stats, ratings or maps.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Finnish law, and mandatory consumer protection rights remain unaffected.
